Antistatic Film vs Static-Shielding Bags

Buyers write “antistatic bags” on an RFQ and mean three different products: pink dissipative poly, coated dissipative film, and metallised shielding bags. Mixing them is how field failures get blamed on “the bag.”

Dissipative (what we typically quote)

Surface resistance in a stated range (often 10^6–10^9 ohms/sq) so charge can bleed off in a controlled way. Transparent enough for inspection. Right for many PCB and assembly wraps when the factory ESD programme is in place.

Shielding bags

A metal layer forms a Faraday cage against external fields. They look opaque or shiny. If your OEM drawing says shielding, dissipative film is the wrong SKU. We will say if that construction is outside what we run.

Bubble is not ESD protection

Standard bubble can generate charge. Electronics inner packs need the antistatic grade or a separate dissipative bag, then cushioning outside that bag if you still need shock protection.
